our story.

In the boom of social media over the past 10+ years, photos are often posed and then shared online for likes rather than for art or memories sake. Oftentimes with my friends + family, I will take an unposed photo. These photos are taken at a very real moment in life, not one made up all pretty and unrealistic for social media – but one taken for memories sake. That’s when we coined our favorite phrase, for the mems.” Anytime we would say that before taking a photo, we knew that the intent wasn’t to post anything but to remember a moment that mattered to us.

What started with friends + family now extends to my clients – all of you join my amazing circle of members.

While the photos I take professionally are beautiful + post-able, the intent is to capture a moment, feeling or memory you don’t want to forget. It’s those real moments that end up really mattering.

Hey! I’m Amanda, creator of The Members Studio. Growing up I was always known as the creative and emotional one of the group. While most children have this undying energy and love to run around + play, I was the child where my mom could place some crayons and a coloring book in front of me and she knew I’d be entertained for hours. The desire to create has + will forever be a part of my identity.

Friends, family + really anybody who’s spent any amount of time with me knows how emotional I can be on a day-to-day basis. The simplest things could make me cry (i.e. an old person eating alone, a song whether its happy or sad, the nerdy kid in a Disney movie getting bullied, ect.). Though I’ve struggled with the level of empathy I possess for most of my life, I understand how much of it is a superpower.

Seeing life with depth is beautiful – seeing life without it is boring.

Images have the power to hold so much depth + emotion. After buying my first DSLR camera in 2013 - I knew this was the medium for me. Now in my career, I want to showcase that depth, emotion and creativity I feel on a daily basis.
